NOT SUITABLE FOR FARMING PURPOSES! The Rhenosterpoort Nature Reserve is a 1000ha private nature reserve, located on the eastern Gauteng border in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. It is situated midway between the towns of Bronkhorstspruit (Gauteng) and Emalahleni (Mpumalanga). The Wilge River, a tributary to the Olifants River, flows through the reserve. It offers easy access for a lovely weekend getaway, Safe , quit area , clean air , variety of surrounded wild life and you have the ability to design and build your own home.
On-the-ground management is undertaken by a permanent reserve manager and three laborers, tasked with (Normal Levy of R2184 covers this ) : - General management. - Infrastructure management and maintenance - Veld management - Game management - Security There is a Special Levy of R216 for this year only.
The following conditions placed on owners in terms of the development and use of properties: - Only one private dwelling may be erected per 21 hectares. - No subdivision of properties smaller than 21 hectares is permitted. - Properties may not be used for agricultural purposes - No exotic plants may be introduced to the reserve. - No domestic animals or pets may be brought onto the reserve. - No fencing of properties is permitted. - No unauthorised hunting is permitted
Vehicular access is provided by way of common access gravel roads and two spoor tracks, and private access roads to each house. Two low level concrete bridges provide access across the Wilge River. A gravel pit located in the north of the reserve is used to source road maintenance material. There are no internal fences. The boundary of the reserve is fenced with a either:
- a 2,4m 22 strand game fence with 1,2m 'jakkelsdraad' at the base.; or - a 2,4m 'bonnox' game fence.
The reserve manager's residence is located just outside the reserve on the farm Waschbank 497 JR, Remainder of Portion 13. Management infrastructure including workers accommodation, sheds and storerooms is located on the old north gate complex. Potable water is sourced via a number of boreholes scattered throughout the reserve, and pumped to holding tanks at each house. There is no Eskom power at the reserve with the exception of Klipfontein 498 JR Portion 19, which has Eskom power trenched from the western boundary to the house on this portion. The farm manager's house outside the reserve has Eskom power. There is no landline telecommunications infrastructure on the reserve.
