The Blue Circle Diaries - Tharina Maritz

Category Workplace News

The Blue Circle Diaries - a twice-monthly Q&A featuring valuable insights into the strategies, processes, and philosophies of our agency elite! Get that diary out and take some notes!

Here's another one of our Blue Circle subjects, Tharina Maritz from Harcourts Platinum - No.5 in the country!

Why did you decide to join Harcourts?
I always admired the Brand. Starting in the Real Estate industry about 7 years ago you quickly learned about the big players in the Industry, and I knew Harcourts was one of them. After a few coffee meetings with Steve Caradoc Davies I knew that this is where I need to be.

What is your favourite thing about being a Harcourts team member?
Feeling part of the family. We all work so well together and the great support we receive from management. If we act everyday according to our values - you can only succeed.

What do you enjoy most about being in real estate?
Building relationships. We are in the people industry - the relationships you build today will determine your growth for the future. You have to LOVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING - imagine waking up every day, dreading going to work. I have found my passion and love doing what I do.

What advice would you offer to people new to the industry?
Always put people first. Do the right thing and you will prosper.

What is your most memorable career moment to date?
I joined Harcourts about 5 years ago. Walking into the office on the first day, being very nervous. This was very memorable, and then seeing the recognition you receive and seeing the enthusiasm of my colleagues and being part of this - was a big highlight.

What activities have led to your success?
Always putting my client's needs first. Never wait till the next day to answer questions or send info - do it as soon as you can. Acknowledge e mails and inquiries, and always ask if you can assist further. People want to feel that you care and that you can be trusted with their needs.

What is your secret to maintaining a strong relationship with clients?
It is just so easy to stay in touch these days - if I had more hours in my day I will be out most of the time with coffee and wine dates with clients who became friends. We all have very busy lives but a whattsapp message - HAVE A GREAT DAY / HAPPY BIRTHDAY/ HAPPY HOME ANNIVERSARY/HOW ARE THE KIDS  etc - goes along way. Technology has just made it so easy for us but we are still human, and the personal touch, showing that you care is the most important.
