10 amazing household uses for baking soda

  1. Scrub your shower

Sprinkle teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of dishwashing liquid on a damp microfiber cloth. Massage the cloth between your hands to create a lather. Then, scrub the shower walls with the cloth. Pour baking soda over shower floors, apply dishwashing liquid in a "S" motion over the baking soda, then scrub the floor with a wet brush. Use warm water to rinse the entire shower. Use a dry microfiber cloth to clean the walls and floor. Shower curtains can be cleaned using a moist microfiber cloth that has been dusted with baking soda.

  1. Clean bathroom drains

Mix half a cup of baking soda, 2 cups of water, and 10-20 drops of your favourite essential oil(s) to create a linen, mattress, and general upholstery freshener.  Put the baking soda mixture carefully into a 16 oz. glass spray bottle using a funnel. Add water and shake thoroughly. Spray the surface until just damp, then let it air dry. For a cleaner, fresher house, mist the air over fabrics and carpets and all around your space.

  1. Cut that kitchen grease

Place greasy pans in a sink or small tub after removing them. Microwave vinegar until it boils. After adding the boiling vinegar to the pots and pans, sprinkle on some baking soda. Give the mixture 30 minutes to rest. Rinse after wiping with a moist sponge. Repeat is necessary.

  1. Baking soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

Add just enough hydrogen peroxide to 1/4 cup baking soda in a small glass dish to make a paste you can polish both large and small kitchen appliances with, as well as utensils, baking pans, and water stains from kitchenware. Tile grout can also be cleaned using this baking soda paste.

  1. Clean your oven

You can scrub baked-on stains out of your oven with mixture made of baking soda, water, and vinegar (make sure it froths). Spraying should be done more than once until baked-on food is easily removed.

  1. Sink cleaner

To clean stainless steel sinks, combine lemon's cleaning power with baking soda. Apply baking soda on the cut side of a lemon, or combine lemon juice and baking soda to produce a paste, and scrub the sink basin with it. Avoid scratching the surface by moving with the grain.

  1. Unclog the kitchen drain

Start by shaking a few tablespoons of baking soda into the drain. Pour in heated vinegar, which will make the baking soda fizz to break up clogs, and rinse the drain with boiling water.

  1. Gentle cleaner for painted surfaces

Painted surfaces require a gentle cleaning method that won't mar the finish. Sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge and lightly rub the sponge on walls and painted furniture to remove dirt and stains. Wipe dry with a clean cloth. This method works especially well on greasy stains, such as smudges and fingerprints.

  1. Clean tiles and wax-free flooring

Combine baking soda and water to make a potent cleaner to mop the floors, then rinse with warm water and 12 cups of baking soda. Note. using this technique on waxed surfaces, like hardwood flooring, will harm the finish.

  1. Laundry colour protection

Keep whites white and your colours bright. Every time you do laundry, add a half cup of baking soda along with your regular detergent. This method can also be used to remove odors from soiled clothing.
