Brooklyn at a glance

Brooklyn is a well-developed affluent suburb situated in the pivotal South African city of Pretoria (Tshwane). It's located in the Eastern part of the sprawling urban yet leafy landscape and is well known for its upmarket residential houses and upstanding shopping and malls. The area has seen a boom in retail developments over the last few years. It lies just adjacent to the University of Pretoria in the northern region of the suburb and towards the southern part of Brooklyn, you'll find the suburban areas of Groenkloof and Waterkloof. 

Commercial Hotspots

Although Brooklyn has always been traditionally an area more reserved for residential purposes. In recent times it has become popular for commercial reasons to and today there are many places in which people have chosen to work. Some areas in which commerce is booming include Olivier Street, Charles Street, Justice Mahomed Street, Stella Street, Brooklyn Street and Brooks Street.

Commercial Developments and Office Parks

In recent years Brooklyn in Pretoria has seen an increase in construction developments and office parks some of the more recent developments include IQ Brooklyn which is a sectional title development which is set to be situated in the epicentre of the area near TUKS University, its believed that this construction will be perfect for students and startup entrepreneurs looking to move into this sought-after area.

Infrastructure/Roadways

Due to Brooklyn's geographical location, the area has all the best infrastructure that the city of Pretoria has to offer. Some of the schools in the area include Brooklyn Primary School, Brooklyn Montessori and The British Academy. It's also within close proximity to The University of Pretoria. Hospitals in the area include Medipark 24, Brooklyn Surgical Centre and the Life Groenkloof Hospital. Some of the roads that connect Brooklyn with the rest of Pretoria include Dely Street, Fehrsen Street, Brooklyn Road and 10th Street.

Distance from Key Points (Airport/CBD)

Brooklyn is well situated as its only 45.2km from the OR Tambo International Airport and it's believed to take roughly 35 minutes to get there (traffic depending). From the central business district of Johannesburg, it's believed to take just over an hour and is 62.1km in distance.

Transport

The Tshwane Municipality implemented the building of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) transportation system in the Arcadia and Hatfield area around the 11th of July 2012 and the project took 2 years to complete and started its operation on the 1st of December 2014. This bus system connects most of the greater Pretoria area. Brooklyn is also within close proximity to the Hatfield Gautrain Train Station (2.4km).

Malls/Shopping

Brooklyn Pretoria is within close propinquity to Hatfield Square, which is well known as the shopping and entertainment mecca of the greater Pretoria area.  Some of the more sought-after malls in the area include the Brooklyn Mall and the Hatfield Plaza. Another interesting shopping experience is Duncan Yard.

Restaurants 

Due to Brooklyn, Pretoria's affluence there are some great restaurants to enjoy which include Kream Brooklyn, Padbok Thai Restaurant and Tasha's as well as all the popular fast food and chain stores which South African's have come to know and love.

In conclusion, this area has a great history, premier infrastructure, close proximity to important facilities and luxurious ways of living making it one of the best suburbs in South Africa. It doesn't matter whether you want to invest in property, move with your loved ones or just explore around and find out what there is; Brooklyn has got something for everyone.
