Only 35 kms from OR Tambo International airport and 10 kms from the city centre, Johannesburg South is conveniently located for the business traveller.

 "The South", as it is referred to by the locals, is the most southern part of Johannesburg and borders the municipalities of Ekurhuleni and Midvaal and flows into Alberton in the East. The south is mainly divided into two parts - the older part on the north side of the N12 highway, and the newer part on the south of the highway. 

Johannesburg South includes over 50 suburbs that span more than 30 km from City Deep & Rosettenville all the way to Lenasia and has an area of more than 250km2. It includes suburbs such as Mondeor, Winchester Hills, Glenvista and Eye of Africa.

Johannesburg South has a multitude of private and public schools that include Waterstone College, St Martins, Glenanda Primary, Mondeor High School, Glenvista High School and many more. 


Medical facilities
The private hospitals include Netcare Mulbarton Hospital, Lenmed Daxina Private Hospital & Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital. Public hospitals include The South Rand Hospital, Lenasia South Hospital and The Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. There are a variety of private and public clinics, specialists and dentists.

Activities
The people of "the South" are family-orientated and active. Some outdoor activities include many hiking and cycle trails, football, rowing, canoeing, paintball, and shooting.


Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve forms the heart of the South. This reserve contains 640 hectares of veld and koppies, which are home to a variety of animals such as zebra, red hartebeest, and black wildebeest. Hikers will find a variety of hiking trails suitable for all levels of fitness and experience on the reserve.

The magnificent 87 436-seater FNB stadium is located in Johannesburg South and is South Africa's largest venue. FNB Stadium's distinctive design is well-known around the world, and it is affectionately known as the "Calabash." The facility has held some of the country's biggest sports and music events, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup TM opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the final and is home to the national Kaizer Chiefs soccer team.  

Gold Reef City, The Apartheid Museum, Turffontein Racecourse, Rietvlei Zoo Farm, Glenvista Country Club, and Thaba Eco Hotel and Spa are among the other well-known attractions. 


The location is a golfer's paradise, since it is home to three golf courses: Glenvista Country Club, South Downs Country Club, and the Greg Norman-designed Championship Golf Course located within the exclusive Eye of Africa Gold Estate. There are numerous golf driving ranges where you can practice your swing before hitting the course.


Shopping
The Mall of the South, Southgate Mall, Trade Route Mall, and The Glen Shopping Centre are just a few of the many shopping centres in the area.

Climate
The temperatures range from lows of 2 degrees to highs of 26 degrees and residents enjoy a dry climate.
