Morné has a passion to see businesses and individuals succeed and he found his purpose through “Enabling People Enabling Business”. Real Estate was a perfect fit for this and he firmly believes that as an Agent you need to have an entrepreneurial mindset and loves to see Agents succeed in their own businesses.
Background:
Morné studied B.Com banking at the University of Tshwane and shortly after completed an MBA through the Unisa School of Business. After a short stint in the logistics world, Morné joined the family business which bought and opened four Woolworths Franchise stores, eventually managing the group for the last three years between 2018 and 2010 when Woolworths closed their Franchise division. The family invested in a start-up BEE business in the coal industry. Morné was involved to set up the business operations and eventually took up the role of Financial Manager and later the position of Legal and Company Secretary.
Morné pursued his studies further through the Chartered Secretaries Institute of South Africa and qualified as an Associate Chartered Secretary (Governance Professional), with a notable achievement of placing second in the Country at the Board exam in the subject Corporate Financial Management.
Morné always had a love for property. He developed and sold a student accommodation development with friends, invested in property and was also part of a large eco-development on a game farm. He also managed the process to establish development rights on another game farm to completion. The farm was then sold with development rights.
In 2014 Morné and his family moved to Durbanville, an area he was familiar with from schooldays. He opened an Estate Agency for a national Franchise and placed within the top 5 businesses within the first 18 months of operating. Morné sold the business the following year to an existing Franchisee who were looking to expand their own operations.
Morné and Denis met via the school which their children attend. They started talking and in 2017, Morné assisted Denis with the merger between Dunn Property Services and Harcourts Select to Harcourts Dunn. Morné and Denis developed a healthy respect for each other and established a great working relationship, eventually leading to Morné acquiring shares in Harcourts Dunn.
Morné is married to Mary-Ann and they have three daughters – Duné, Anika and Carmen.
